According to this Stone Tablet, the Death Plain is under a phantom spell. The spell was for protecting a temple which once stood there, so that a phantom appeared to anyone approaching the temple. I think Dag saw one of them.
The Stone Tablet has instructions on how to break the spell, so I think different people made the spell and the Stone Tablet. I need some ingredients to follow this, though. Do this for me. I need <HFFFA7272>1 Piece of Rare Leather<HFFFFFFFF>. You can get it by using <HFFFA7272>Collecting Skill of Livello 3 or higher<HFFFFFFFF> on <HFFFA7272>Duriven Cercaers<HFFFFFFFF> in <HFFFA7272>The Span<HFFFFFFFF>.
