You must have also heard about the tale of how Usus led a horde of monsters when he attacked the Humans. It is definitely a dangerous skill, and it appears that Mortar in the Bandit Village has learned its secret.
I do not know if it is the same as the one used by Usus, though. Apparently, Mortar can bind a monster in a contract by talking to it, and the monster must give absolute obedience to uphold the honor of Mortar.
That is about as much as I know, but I do know of one monster that has definitely made a contract with Mortar. When you go to the <HFFFA7272>Death Plain<HFFFFFFFF>, you will see a Lamia Queen named <HFFFA7272>Risky<HFFFFFFFF>. Dispose of it and get its <HFFFA7272>Contract Ring of Mortar<HFFFFFFFF>. Then bring it to <HFFFA7272>Blacksmith Falcon<HFFFFFFFF> in the <HFFFA7272>Eastern side of the Village<HFFFFFFFF>.

Oh, it is rather worrying if that's true, but in a way it's also a relief. Because now we know what weapon the enemy possesses. Hahaha.
